William M. Root

WILLIAM MERRITT ROOT, age 75 of Burton, died Sunday, November 29, 2020 at his residence. Cremation has taken place and burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Bill was born on October 11, 1945 to William and Barbara Root . He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, spending time at the lake, going to the casino and to thrift stores, and watching sports. Bill loved animals, especially his dog, Sassy Girl. He is survived by his children: Leah Root, Marylee (Eric) Knag, and Kevin; grandchildren: Andrew, Ethan, and Carter; sisters: Joanne (Mel) Olds and Cheryl (Mike) McGraw; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David; and brother, Thomas Michael.
