It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, William "Bill" Collins Jr., who peacefully departed from us on February 15, 2026. Born on January 15, 1943,Bill led a full and vibrant life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Throughout his 83 years, Bill became a treasured member of his community and the devoted head of his family. He is survived by his daughters, Correen (Buck) Coultas and Carolyn(Donald) Lee; his son, William Collins III; and his beloved grandchildren, Jessica (Josha)Schulze, Kimberly Gerber, Jacob Coultas, Anthony Collins, Haley Hoffman, Kasandra(Christopher) Blackford, and Zachary (Silver) Lee, Michael Collins-Carrillo, Christian Carrillo along with 15 great-grandchildren who he adored. Each of them will carry Bill’s lively spirit with them throughout their lives.
Bill was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Evelyn, with whom he shared 63 beautiful years. He also mourned the loss of his parents; William and Edna Collins Sr.; siblings; Linda Payer, Jane Anderson, and Mick Smith; and his great-grandson Emryk Schulze. There markable bond he had with them reflected his innate kindness and strong sense of family.
Bill dedicated 31 years to General Motors before retiring, which allowed him to pursue his passions for woodworking and fishing. Retirement also provided him the opportunity to spend more quality time with friends and family.
A man of simple tastes, Bill relished a hearty steak and potatoes meal and had a fondness for walleye. He often enjoyed watching his favorite old western television shows while sipping on an ice-cold Pepsi. A loyal supporter of the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Lions, and Michigan State Basketball, he also loved playing baseball in his youth and participated in many local teams. In his leisure time, Bill found joy in camping, fishing, playing pool, and poker.
Bill had an infectious personality, always smiling and laughing, and he brought joy to those around him. He was actively involved in local charities, particularly those focusing on children and families. Together with his wife Evelyn, Bill dedicated many years to fundraising for these causes, showcasing his steadfast commitment to his community.
As we grieve his passing, we also celebrate the remarkable life Bill lived and the love he shared with everyone. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and enduring spirit will continue to shine through his family and the community he cherished. Rest in peace, Bill. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
At this time, no funeral services are planned. A Celebration of Life for both Bill and Evelyn will be announced later, providing family and friends an opportunity to gather and honor their memories.
The family would like to thank Nurse Ashley and McLaren Hospice Davison for their genuine care and support.
