Virginia, known to most as "Grandma," was born on October 19, 1923 in Flint, Michigan to the late William and Ada (Madore) Anderson. Virginia worked for General Motors at the Fisher Body plant, retiring after 30 plus years. After living in Flint for several years, she and her husband, Donald D. Randall, purchased a small farm in Davison and made the move with their two children. Horses became a family passion and many hours were spent in the saddle on trails and on camping trips and many lifelong friendships and memories were made over the years. The farm became the center of Virginia's life, especially with her daughter and grandchildren. Virginia loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and was known to spoil them rotten. However, her title of "Grandma" did not stop with blood. She was grandma to everyone she met and she considered everyone family. She was the epitome of selflessness and could always be found helping and giving to those that needed it. She loved to travel with the ladies at the Senior Center and was part of the Trail Blazers mall walking crew at Courtland Center. She had an immense love for God at an early age. In her younger years, her family was very active in the Salvation Army, playing in the band and singing in the choir. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and could always be found volunteering in the church nurseries. Grandma was a very active member, rarely missing a Sunday morning church service. She was always praying for her family and friends and was always so encouraging. Grandma was always "on the go" and was constantly busy. Even well into her 80's, she could work circles around the average person, helping her daughter out on the farm and running grandkids here and there. She also had a soft spot for animals, especially birds and cats. Grandma had a love for Faith Baptist Schools and made sure that all of her grandkids attended school there. She could be found walking the halls, peeking into classrooms, and delivering treats and eggs to the faculty and staff. She never missed a band or choir concert and could always be found on the sidelines of a basketball court or soccer field, cheering on her "kids." She was seen at every 4H horse and livestock show at the Genesee County Fair, with her folding lawn chair in tow, and sitting in the middle row of every dance recital. Grandma was a part of it all.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Ed) Cole; granddaughters: Wendy (Adam) Gardner, Cassie (Dustin) Mumford, and Tyffany (Charlie) Brauer; great grandchildren: Ashley (Mike) Lester, Alyssa Gardner, Kylee and Cole Mumford, and Mason Brauer; great-great grandchildren: Lacy, Ruthie, and Brooklyn; dear friends, Donald Olmsted and Joe Hebert; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, D. David Randall, husband, and parents.
The family would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice, especially Andrea and Courtney for their one-on-one care.
