Virginia Ruth Crooks – Knight, age 89 of Columbiaville, died October 5, 2009 at her residence. Funeral Services will be 11:30 AM Friday October 9, 2009 at Hudson Funeral Service, Pastor Charles Green officiating. Cremation will take place at Sunset Hills Crematory. Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4PM and 6-9PM. Donations may be made to the Senior Companion Program of Lansing. Virginia was born in Shady Valley, TN on December 25, 1919 to William and Julia (Fletcher) Mays. She was a member of the Lansing VFW Auxiliary and the South Lansing Lions Club. She loved to read,do needle work, and enjoyed her Sunday Church service. She also loved to go to lunch and get her jelly packets. Virginia's true passion was for the family farm and her family. Virginia also volunteered with the Senior Companion Program. Education was very important to Virginia and she worked all of her life so she could attend classes at Lansing Community College. Virginia worked for several years at the Lapeer General Hospital and Sun Crest Hospital. Surviving are her children: Tom (Cheryl) Crooks, Mary Crooks, Kay (Roberto) Carrasco, Gale Crooks,and Clayton(Donna) Crooks; Step daughter: Irene (Bill) Bridges;grandchildren: Jeffrey, Heather, Sherri, Kim, Dan, Becky, Virginia, Marisa, Rob, Clayton II, Jane Marie, Jody, and Johnny; 19 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her two husbands: Harry C. Crooks and Lynn Knight.
