Sylvia Lee Luoma

Sylvia Lee Luoma, age 76 of Otisville, formerly of the Alpena area, died on March 5, 2025.  Her memorial service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 450 Wilson Rd., Otisville, MI  48463.

Sylvia was born in Rodger City, MI on July 13, 1946 and grew up in Millersburg, MI. She married Richard Luoma and they moved to their home near Alpena, where they raised their three sons until the time of Richard's death in 1998. Sylvia then decided to move to Otisville to live with Patricia, her niece, for a few years and then moved in with her sister-in-law, Anita until her death.

Sylvia enjoyed going to play Bingo and to the movies. She had a very good friend, Vicki who would pick her up for Bingo and her nephew, Paul who would take her to the movies.

Sylvia is survived by two of her sons: Victor (Norma) Luoma and Brian Luoma; granddaughters: Kathleen and Sheena of Washington; brother, August Poppenfuse, III of Onaway, MI.; sisters-in-law: Anita Poppenfuse and Amy Poppenfuse; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Luoma; son: Wayne Luoma; brothers: Eugene Poppenfuse, KayeDon Poppenfuse, and Darwin Poppenfuse; and sister-in-law, Debbie Poppenfuse.
