Shirley R. Hammond

SHIRLEY R. HAMMOND, age 96 of Otisville, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Maple Woods Manor in Clio. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 2-3PM with a memorial service to follow at 3PM. Contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church in Otter Lake. Shirley was born on August 24, 1923 in Otter Lake, Michigan to Ralph and Vernon (Larkin) Hemingway. She married Homer P. Hammond on December 2, 1944 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Otter Lake, where Shirley was a member. She was also a lifetime member of the Otter Lake Literary Club. Shirley enjoyed golfing, especially with her Hemingway golf group. They were Club Champions at Willow Springs Golf Course. She preferred Florida weather in the winter so they lived there for 35 years. Surviving are her children: Dale (Karen) Hammond, David (Angela) Hammond, and Patti (fiancé, Mike Yettaw) Roggentine; grandchildren: Kellie (David), Kari (Eric), Katie (Matt), Scott (friend, Kim), Chad (Vicki), Tonya, Tom, Kash (Nicky), and Kade (Kayla); great-grandchildren: Clark, Rachel, Rylee, Hailey, Kammi, Jazmin, Ethan, Freddy, Javon, Lina, Kolt, and Kooper; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer; brothers: Robert and Ralph; sister, Connie; son-in-law, Vance; and daughter-in-law, Rhonda.
