RUSSELL CLARE JACKSON, age 96 of Otisville, MI and Bradenton, FL went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 9, 2018. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Otisville, MI at 11AM, with Pastor David Hensler officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 12, 2018 from 2PM to 8PM at the Mumford Hudson Funeral Home and Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 10AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church building fund. Russell was born on August 7, 1921 to Maude Harris and Robert Jackson. He was the youngest of 6 children. In 1941, he served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Otisville American Legion Post 321. Russell was self-employed as a General Contractor and served as the Forest Twp. building inspector for several years. He was a charter member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Otisville, MI, and attended Hope Lutheran Church in Bradenton, FL during the winter months. Russell enjoyed woodworking, traveling, site seeing and his grandchildren. Together with his wife Beatrice, they shared five children: Bonnie (Jerald) Smith, Candy (Mike) Burgdorf, Jackie (Charles) Stiff, Robbie (Ken) Schultz, and the late Billie Jean Shade. They have lots of grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. They also hosted 2 exchange students: Maricar (Roy) Antiqua and Nini (Art) Carson. Also surviving is his brother in law and sister in law, Richard (Beatrice) Shade. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice; parents, Maude and Robert Jackson; brothers: Floyd, Albert, and Norman Jackson; sisters: Blanche Cole and Eva Wethington; daughter, Billie Jean Shade; and great granddaughters: Claire Peake and Michelle Kimes.
