Shade, Richard "Dick"– of Otisville, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at home. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no service at this time. Dick was born on April 26, 1934, in Flint, Michigan, to the late William and Sylvia Shade. He graduated from Otisville High School, class of 1952, and Flint Junior College. He was an outstanding athlete, playing in four sports at Otisville High School and later played baseball and basketball for Flint JC. Dick retired from Lewis & Knopf, CPAs as a partner after 40 years of dedicated service. He was beloved by his clients and his employees upon whom he had a great influence on their lives.  Dick married the love of his life, Beatrice Carpenter on January 15, 1955, and they enjoyed 69 years together.

Dick was a lifetime member of the Otisville Masonic Temple. He served on the LakeVille Community Schools Board of Education, the Otisville Village Council, and other boards in the community. He enjoyed spending time with family, playing golf, cards, fishing trips to Canada, golf cart rides in the village of Otisville, lunches at the Senior Center, watching sports and attending his children and grandchildren's games.

He was a kind, generous, hardworking, humble, and quiet man. He was adored and respected by his family, friends, and the Otisville community.

Surviving are wife, Beatrice Shade, children, Tom (Kim) Shade, Laura (Tim) McMahan, Susan Popour, Mary (Troy) Deibis, and Julie (Joe) Lenz; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings – William, Barbara, Robert, and Sylvia (Pert) and many other special in-laws and family members.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Comfort Keepers, Medical Team Hospice, and special caregivers Cheryl, Karen, Robbie, Tammy and Theresa for their kindness, support, and care. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Forest Township Senior Center or the Otisville Historical Society.
