Richard Plunkett Jr.

Richard Gordon Ku'uipo'okalani Plunkett, Jr., age 69 of Byron MI, died on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Hurley Hospital. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. His memorial service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Swartz Creek Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473, with Pastor Dan Bowman officiating.  His burial will be on Tuesday June 6, 2023 at 9:30 AM in Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Richard was born in Waimanalo, HI on March 19, 1954 to Richard Gordon Ku'uipo'okalani Plunkett, Sr. and Annie Misao Tahaka Plunkett. Richard served in the US Air Force for 8 years, where he was a Sargeant, working as a Patrol Dog Explosive Specialist. After his military time, he worked as a loan officer for Citizens Bank.

He is survived by children: Rick Punkett (MI), Elaina Plunkett (MI), Christy (Charles) Davis (TX), Sara (Buddy) Ward (KY), Deanna (Michael) Moody (MI), and Jonathan (Stephanie) Dowdy (TX); 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; siblings: Rosaline Plunkett, Juliana Kaina, Teal (George) Kahalekomo, Percy Plunkett, and Aloha Plunkett; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Clayton Plunkett and Neal Plunkett.
