Quinton J. Akers

QUINTON J. AKERS, age 83 of Columbiaville, passed away on Monday March 24, 2014 at Mclaren Lapeer. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hollenbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 AM-8PM on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the funeral home. Contributions they may be made to the family. Quinton was born on October 1, 1930 to Sie and Rosie (Howell) Akers on Mud Creek in Grethel, Kentucky. He moved to Michigan in 1948, where he worked for Buick in the drop forge, and hammer shop, as a skilled tradesman for forty years. Quinton was an avid gardener and farmer, he raised five kids, numerous animals and flowers on his farm. He leaves behind four daughters: Mary Cecelia (Scott) Ockerman, Rose Marie Akers, Sherry Jeannean (Arnie) Bartley, and Lucille Ann Starr,  grandchildren: Jeanne'e, Quinton, Lara, Holly, Brandy, Michael, Dakota, David, and Simon;  great-grandchildren: Chloe, Shelby, Gabe, Sam, Lucus, Grace, Cecelia, Sophia, Jimmy, Annie, and Hollie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannean of 44 years; son, Quinton George Akers; six brothers; two sisters; and his parents.
