NORMAN D. SPENCER, age 81 of Otter Lake, died Monday, July 18, 2011 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 22, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Francis Faraci officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 10AM-8PM.
Burial will follow at Mt. Loretto Cemetery, Lapeer. Contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, or the Salvation Army. Norman was born on January 24, 1930 to John and Helen (Bookie) Spencer. He married Eleanora (Irgang) Spencer in November of 1949. Norman was a Korean war veteran. He retired from General Motors, and from the Otter Lake Fire Department after 50 years of service to his community. Norm was a life long resident and farmer of Lapeer county.He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and he enjoyed wrenching on cars. Surviving are his children: Gary Spencer, Jean (Gil) Theakston, David (Merrianne) Spencer, Norma Newman, Ronald (Hellen) Spencer, Donald Spencer, Duane Spencer, Mary (Kevin) Spencer-Moore, Gordon Spencer, and Theresa (John) Weaks; 18 Grandchildren, and 12 Great- Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanora.
