Michael Ned Virgilio

Michael Ned Virgilio, age 74 of Otisville, died Friday, November 14, 2025 at Hurley Medical Center. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Michael was born on April 6, 1951 in Detroit, MI to Anthony and Mary Virgilio. He married Lesa Fewelling on August 4, 1984 in Flint, MI. Growing up, Michael lived next door to his cousins and grew very close to them, especially Mike Makowski. Michael was a member of St. Francis Xavior Catholic Church. He was a teacher for the Flint Community Schools, where he was also the chess coach at Longfellow Middle School. While teaching in Flint Senator Carl Levin came into his classroom to see how he used chess to teach his lessons. Prior to teaching Mike owned his own wholesale food business for several years. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. Michael enjoyed having people over for cookouts. He loved to share the fish he caught, the tomatoes he canned, and the other produce from his garden with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Lesa; sister, Danise (Tony) Parrottino; sister-in-law, Candy; niece, Tracy (Jeremy); and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn; brother, Lawrence; and parents.
