MICHAEL LABA, age 94 of Otisville, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, January 6, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Otisville, Rev. Fr. Francis Faraci officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 11AM-8PM. Burial will take place in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Food Pantry. Michael was born on November 8, 1917 to Alex and Kathren (Sachuke) Laba. During WWII, he was a cannoneer in the artillery, moving from Africa up through Italy, across France into Southern Germany. Michael was awarded the Theater Ribbon W/1 Silver Battle Star and Croix de Guerre. He was a General Motors retiree and actively participated in village, township, and school board meetings. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Otisville American Legion Post #321, Otisville Historical Society, and St. Francis Xavier men's club. Surviving are his sons: Michael (Martha) Laba, James (Kay) Laba, and Roger Laba; 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; brother, Alex; and his parents.
