Mary Ellen Butterfield

Mary Ellen Butterfield, 73, of Otter Lake passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026.

Her viewing will be from 4pm to 8pm Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home, 116 Grove St., Otisville, MI. Mary Ellen’s funeral service will be 11am Friday, March 27, 2026 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 212 Center St., Otisville, MI with Father Dennis officiating.

Mary Ellen was born June 29, 1952 in Flint, Michigan to the late Ralph and Madeline (Gass) Ulrich. She was a graduate of LakeVille High School, class of 1970. She loved animals and nature. Mary Ellen grew up on a farm and has raised many beloved animals in her lifetime, including her miniature horses Scarlett and Lucky.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years Randall Butterfield, siblings Rita (Ulrich) Kreger, Pauline (Ulrich) Cobb and Paula (Ulrich) Ostrom, sons Randall (wife Susan), Anthony (wife Beth), Duane (wife Carrie) and Kevin, eight Grandchildren, three Great Grandchildren and her cats Prince and Whitey. Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Margaret (Ulrich) Blue and her brothers Steven Ulrich and Bob Ulrich.
