LOREN DAVENPORT, age 79 of Otter Lake, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at his residence. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Hills Crematory. A memorial service will take place 3 PM Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Hudson Funeral Service, Otisville, Elder Robert Sutton officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 1:00PM until 3:00PM service time. He was born in Marion, Illinois on May 28, 1928 to Curtis and Blanche (Beasley) Davenport. He was married to Merilyn (Thompson) Davenport for 35 years. Loren was a member of the Otter Lake VFW. He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps and shooting guns with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He also enjoyed ships and gardening. He retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after 21 years of active duty. He then worked and retired as a diesel welder and was a member of the Teamsters Local 332. Surviving is his Wife: Merilyn; Children: Roger Davenport of Otter Lake, Rodney Davenport of St. Louis, Lora (Daniel) Lee of Lapeer, Pamela (Jimmie) Risner of Swartz Creek, Linda (Donald) Carpenter of Norristown, PA, and Charles Davenport of PA; Grandchildren: Whitney, Sean, Kyle, and Connor; Siblings: Aileen Davis, Glenn, Donald, and Eugene Davenport; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Charles and James.
