Leo Elmer Johnsen, Jr.

LEO E. JOHNSEN, JR., age 75 of Otisville, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at his home. His funeral service will be held at 3PM on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home, with Pastor Cole and Pastor Snow officiating. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the funeral home from 11AM until service time. Contributions may be made to the family or a charity of your choice. Leo was born in Flint, MI on June 6, 1941, the son of Leo E. Johnsen, Sr. and Dorothy Mae (Wentworth) Johnsen. He served in the U.S. NAVY and was stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and was involved in the Bay of Pigs Invasion. Leo married Beth Ireland on October 7, 1967 at the Otisville United Methodist Church. He served on the Otisville Police Department for 38 years and for 28 of those years was Chief of Police. He was a member of the Grumpy Old Men Fishing Club in Otisville and enjoyed fishing and gardening, but most of all, he loved his babies (grandchildren) and dog, Cujo. Surviving is his wife of 49 years and 2 months, Beth; children: Michael (Kara) Johnsen of Millington, Marc Johnsen of Owosso, Malisa (James) Rodgers of Otisville, and Malynda (Jeremy Sutton) Goodman of Mt. Morris; grandchildren: Drake, Willow, Zoey, Madison, Joanne (Jesse), K.C. (Nicole), Lyle, Kaylee, Elizabeth, Isabelle, Gracie Rose, Louesa, Kiyah, Chloe, and J.J.; sisters: Shirley Narr, Sharon Ferguson, Joanne Ferguson, and Cheryl Johnsen; brother, Donald Johnsen; many nieces and nephews, friends, and fishing buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Beverly, Patsy, and Gloria; and brothers: Beuford and LeRoy. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the ER and 2nd Floor Staff at Genesys and Heartland Hospice.
