Laverne O. Coon

LaVerne O. Coon of Otisville age 77 died Monday July 3, 2006 at Briarwood Manor. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday July 7, 2006 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Otisville, Pastor David Hensler. Burial will be in Smith Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday 11 AM – 1 PM and 4-8 PM.and Thursday 10 AM – 1 PM and 4 – 8 PM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Pavilion Fund. LaVerne was born May 22, 1929 to Otis and Ethel (Smith) Coon. He married Mildred Meinecke, June 20, 1953. LaVerne retired from V-8 Engine in 1991 after 30 years. He was charter member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church and he had a passion for his church. A member of Union Local 659. Prior to working in the shop he farmed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Worked with the Otisville Little League and was a devoted Tiger Fan. Survivors are his wife: Mildred; 5 children: Pamela (Thomas) Glynn, Sharon (Mark) Wyman, Kenneth (Sharon) Coon, Sue Coon and Tracy Sawdon; grandchildren: Sara Glynn, Laura Glynn, Jeremy (Aggie) Wyman, Shannon Wyman, Ronald (Beth) Bellmer, Nathan Coon, Kaeleen Coon and Katrina Chapman; great grandchildren: Zachery and Abbygale Bellmer; brother: Leo (Darlene) Coon; sisters: Leola Matts, Donna (Del) Kamplain, Ilene (Marvin) Hardenburg, and Lillian Scott. He was preceded in death by great grandchild Hunter Stokes, sisters Mary Jane and Cleo. Special thanks to granddaughter Kaeleen.
