Larry Joe Mcdowell

LARRY JOE McDOWELL, age 78 of Columbiaville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2020. His memorial service will be held at 11AM on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Columbiaville Baptist Church, 4200 Columbiaville Rd., Columbiaville, MI 48421, with Pastor Josh Scally officiating. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home.The family will receive visitors from 4-8PM at the church on Thursday, November 12, 2020. Larry was born on September 18, 1942 in Columbiaville.  Following his high school graduation, Larry served in the National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1969. He married his wife, Kay (Krenz) on August 5, 1967 and was by her side for 53 years. For many years, Larry sold cars and RV's. However, he found a passion for deer and elk ranching and that occupied most of his days. He was an avid sportsman and always enjoyed the outdoors. Larry's greatest joy was being Papa to his 5 grandsons: Devin, Conner, Dillon, Alex, and Declan. He loved watching them play sports, playing cards with them, and just holding them close to him. He was also proud of his sons, Troy, Branden, and Mark. He enjoyed telling others of their accomplishments. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Ada; brothers: Gordon and Russell; sister, Dixie; and many dear friends. He is survived by his wife; sons; daughters-in-laws ; grandchildren; brother, Kay; and sisters: Phyllis and Sally.

Though he is gone, he will never be forgotten. Larry left a lasting impression on every person he met. We are all blessed to have had him in our lives.
