Lamont "Monty" Dewayne Ward

LAMONT "MONTY" DEWAYNE WARD ,

"Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain." Philippians 2:16.

Monty, age 60, died Friday, February 7, 2020 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 12PM on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Victory Baptist Church, 2378 N. Center Rd., Burton, MI 48509, with Pastor Andy Auclair and Pastor Brad Long officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 11AM until the time of the service at the church.

Monty was born on September 29, 1959 in Flint, MI to Garry and Mary Ward. He married Ronda (Burry) Ward on September 14, 1985 at Riverdale Baptist Church. Monty graduated high school from Genesee Christian in 1978 and earned a Bachelor of Science of Biblical Studies from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in 1985. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He never missed a day without expressing at least one or all of these sayings to his wife and son: "I love you," "I believe in you," I care for you," "I'm praying for you," You are my eagle." He was also a faithful steward of God's Word, living out his faith by loving people and drawing their attention to Christ and His work of salvation and redemption. Monty loved traveling, especially spontaneous adventures. He also loved baseball, camping, golfing, and telling a good story, which kept his friends and family hanging on every word. However, Monty's real passion in life was attending church and worshipping with fellow believers, sharing the gospel, and in his earlier years, coaching his son, Dustin in little league baseball and enjoying family time together. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ronda; son, Dustin Ward; father, Garry D. Ward; brothers: Mark (Cheryl) Ward and Mike (Georgeann) Ward; mother-in-law,Kate Burry; sister-in-law, Robin (Scott) Parks; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ward and father-in-law, Robert L Burry.

"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21
