Janet R. Laing

JANET REBECCA LAING, age 81, died Tuesday evening, May 5, 2015 at her residence in New Lothrop, MI. Her funeral service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Smith Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 10AM until the service time at the funeral home. Janet was born on August 12, 1933 in Mt. Morris, Michigan to Earl and Emma (Shaw) Skank. She married her high school sweetheart, James R. Laing, in Otisville, Michigan on February 7, 1953. Janet moved from the Otisville/Clio area to Linden, Michigan in 1966 and worked as a secretary for her husband's oil heating business. Later, Janet and Jim moved to East Tawas, where they owned and operated a motel business, until retiring in 1998. They then moved to Glennie, Michigan until 2005 when they moved to New Lothrop. Janet leaves behind her husband, James R. Laing; sons: James D. (Yvonne) Laing and John A. (Kathy) Laing; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with another one on the way. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Jeanean and Gerald Thompson.
