James F. Sawvel

JAMES F. SAWVEL, age 89 of Otisville, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at McLaren-Flint. His service will be held at Mumford – Hudson Funeral Home in Otisville. Visitation will be from 11AM to 8PM Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be on Monday April 15, 2013 at 1PM. Burial will follow at Smith Hill Cemetery. James was born on November 29, 1923 to Chester and Edith (Sands) Sawvel. He was a member of the UAW and the Flint Pigeon Club. James enjoyed racing pigeons and gardening, especially growing garlic. He loved to farm and raised goats and chickens. Surviving is his wife, Lottie; children: Erania Church, Stacia Pyles, James Sawvel, Jack Sawvel, Steve Sawvel, Dorie Shelton, Chester Sawvel, Donald Sawvel, Alfred Sawvel, Christina Earriere, Mary Cartagena, Cindy Lakey, Stanley Sawvel, Cathy Sawvel, Mike Sawvel, and Terry Sawvel; 42 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great- grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Lydia Sawvel.
