Jack G. Smith

Jack G. Smith, age 86 of Birch Run, died Friday, September 11, 2026 at Medilodge of Montrose. His funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home. Cremation will follow his service. The family will receive visitors from 6-8PM on Monday, September 14, 2026 at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home.

Jack was born on January 5, 1940 to Cecil and Phyllis Smith. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, coon hunting, and rabbit hunting. Jack and his late wife, Barbara, would go for rides on their golf cart and take long car rides up into the Thumb of Michigan. He also enjoyed driving his team of mules. Jack loved a good auction. He would always come home with something, even though he did not need anything. Most of all, he enjoyed going to his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s ball games.

Jack is survived by his children: Jackie (Robert) King and Jill (William) Gilbert; grandchildren: Adam (Page) King, Kacey (Michael) Skelly, Drew (Alexis) King, and Julia (Marcus) Remtema; great grandchildren: Karsyn, Griffin, Kendrie, Hudson, Everett, and Truett; siblings: Virginia Gammage, Wesley (Liz) Smith, Carson (Judy) Smith, and Randy Smith; sister-in-law, Bonnie Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Smith, and siblings: Wanda Close, Jerald Smith, and Janet Smith.
