HOMER (PAT) HAMMOND, age 90 of Otter Lake, died Monday, February 23, 2015 at Gulfside Center at Heather Hill in New Port Richey, FL. His funeral service will be held at 11AM on Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Mumford Hudson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Smith Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 12-8PM on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church of Otter Lake. Homer was born on February 26, 1924 in Mayville, MI, the son of Cecil and Mable (Blackmore) Hammond. He married Shirley Hemingway in Otter Lake on December 2, 1944. He worked as a pipefitter in skilled trades for Buick for 43 years. Homer served in the US Navy from 1941-1945 and was a member of the American Legion in Otter Lake, where he served as past commander of Post 504. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed wintering in Florida. He loved his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids and thoroughly enjoyed going to all of their sporting events. Surviving is his wife, Shirley; children: Dale (Karen) Hammond, David Hammond, and Patti Roggentine; grandchildren: Kellie (David), Kari (Eric), Katie (Matt), Scott, Chad (Vicki), Tommy, Tonya, Kash (Nicky), and Kade (Kayla); great-grandchildren: Clark, Rachel, Rylee, Hailey, Kammi, Javon, Jazmin, Ethan, Freddy, Lina, and Kolt; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry; sisters: Rita and Elsie; son-in-law, Vance; and daughter-in-law, Rhonda.
