GERALD D. CALL, age 93 of Oxford, died on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Independence Village of Oxford. A funeral service will be held at 4PM on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Immanuel Congregational UCC, 1 Hovey St., Oxford, MI 48371, with Pastor Liz Wilson officiating. Burial will take place in Imlay Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 12PM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Immanuel Congregational UCC. Gerald was born in Howell, MI on March 12, 1923, the son of Clifford and Luella (Davis) Call. He answered the call of duty, serving in the US Army during WWII on the Beach of Normandy. During his military service, he received a Bronze Star, a Victory Medal, and several ribbons. Gerald then went to work for Michigan Bell and retired in 1982. He was a member of the Immanuel Congregational UCC and enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, and gardening. Surviving are his children: Pam (Larry) Remillard, Paul (Rita) Call, and Pat (Ed) Brauer; grandchildren: Mike (Kathi) Remillard, Lisa Remillard (fiancé, Dan Merz), Becky (Jeff) Kirschweng, Charlie (Tyffany) Brauer, and Adam (Alecia) Brauer; great-grandchildren: Brenden, Avery, Bailey, Ava, Macy, Mason, Owen, and Leighton; siblings: Doug Call, Donna Call-Records, Dawn Call, and Steve Harris; sister-in-law, Betty Walton; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; grandson, Jeff Call; siblings: Clifford Call, Don Call, Janet Olmsted, Dennis Call, and Faith Pearce.
