George W. Mercer

GEORGE W. MERCER age 77 of Otisville died Friday, August 3, 2007 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 4 PM Monday August 6, 2007 at the Hudson Funeral Service, Inc., Pastor Brent Bowden officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4PM. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation. He was born in Columbus Co., N.C. on April 3, 1930 the son of Sam C. and Lula Mercer and married Helen Johnson. George retired from Ternsteadt Manufacturing. George was a member of Farwell VFW Post #3039, Lake Station D.A.V. #105, Fisher Body Ternsteadt U.A.W. Local, and Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Chadbourn, N.C. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, and a Purple Heart Recipient. Surviving are his wife: Helen; children: Nancy Mercer, George Wayne Mercer, Diane (John) Harrison; grandchildren: Aaron, Amy Lee and husband Mike, Daniel John and wife Nichole, David, and Brian; Great grandchildren (his babies): Christopher, Kaylee, and Trevor; brother: Elbert (Val) Mercer; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Billy Ray and J.W.
