FREDDIE N. MARTIN, age 76 of Mt. Morris, died Friday, March 5, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. His funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Vision Pointe Assembly of God, 9444 E. Dodge Rd., Otisville, MI 48463, with Pastor Tom Forgo and Pastor Butch Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 2-8PM at Vision Pointe Assembly of God. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vision Pointe Assembly of God. Fred was born on October 4, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Herman and Erma Neal (Ballard) Martin. He graduated in 1962 from Beecher High School. On June 20, 1964 he married the love of his life, Donna, they were married for 48 wonderful years. He retired from Fisher Body/Buick City in 1994. Fred was past Worshipful Master of Genesee Welfare Masonic Lodge #517. He was a man of great character. He was wise, loving, strong, protective, sensitive, humorous, stubborn, honest, loyal, and trustworthy. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his family and they were the world to him. Fred enjoyed gardening and could be found sitting at his garden every day. He also liked to go camping, traveling up north to Harrison, celebrating the holidays and watching Christmas movies, and eating good homemade food. Fred also loved animals, especially his dog, Spike. He liked Elvis Presley and was known to dance around the house with his collar up, shaking his leg. Fred loved Vision Pointe Assembly. Although he couldn't attend in person, he rarely missed an online service. He loved the Lord and always played gospel music. His favorite song was "I'll Fly Away." Fred is survived by his children: Delena (Tom) Forgo, Jon (Karen) Martin, and Stephanie (Brian) Goss; grandchildren: Rachel, Patrick, Sarah, Darcy, Ryan, Travis, Preston, and Jon; 7 great grandchildren; siblings: Thomas, Butch, Sharon, and Mike; and extended family: Chris, Aura, and Cassie Phillips. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna, and his parents.
