FOSTER EDWARD TEACHOUT, also known to his family and friends as Pete, went home to be with the Lord on November 28, 2008. Foster was born in Otisville, MI on October 17, 1923, the son of Fred and Flossie (Stover) Teachout. He lived in Otisville for 70 years before moving to Spring Arbor, MI in December of 1993. Foster graduated from Otisville H.S. in 1941, and served as a PFC in the United States Army Medical Corps during WWII from February 13, 1943 to January 28, 1945. He served on the Wharton, Sea Barb, Merimack Fort and Blanche F. Sigman, 220th Hospital Ship complement, crossing the ocean 22 times with the wounded. He received numerous medals during his service. He retired from Ferguson Block Co. after 38 years as a fork lift-truck operator. Foster married Betty Joan Boyd of Flint in 1951. Hr is a member of the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church and a former member of the LakeVille Free Methodist Church in Otisville. He was a member of Laborer's Local#1075, a Life member of V.F.W. Post #3087, the Otisville Area Historical Assoc., and the Hanover/Horton Historical Society. He enjoyed restoring antique furniture, especially Reed Pump Organs. Left to cherish his memory are wife: Betty; son David (Michelle) Teachout of Wellington, Fl; daughter Carolyn (Leland) Prebble of Spring Arbor; and son Eric (Amy) Teachout; grandchildren: Cameron and Destiny Jameson of Battle Creek; 3 sisters: Flora Mae Gerrard and Mary Lou Papp of Mt. Morris, and Mildred Cravens of Dearborn Hgts., sisters-in-law: Viol;a McCain of Flint and Christine Boyd of Chattanooga, TN., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Hildred and faithful poodle of 15 yrs., Rusty. Visitation will be held at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church on Monday December 1 from 5 -8 PM and Tuesday from 10 – 11 AM. Memorial will be Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Those planning on contributions may wish to consider Missions at S.A.F.M. Church, or the Otisville Area Historical Assoc.
