Esther Benjamin

ESTHER BENJAMIN, age 85 of Clio, died Monday, March 12, 2018 at Close to Home Assisted Living. A private burial will take place at a later date in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Esther was born in Flint, Michigan on April 6, 1932 to David and Kathrine (Loose) Gillig. She graduated from Tucson High School and attended Tucson Business College. After moving back to Michigan, she stayed home making sure her children were taken care of. Later in life, Esther worked at Sears where she enjoyed staying busy and interacting with people. She was also a long time member of Peace Presbyterian Church. Esther fought through several debilitating illnesses and throughout that fight she always wore a smile and lived life to its fullest. Her example left a positive impact on many people's lives. She is survived by her sons: David (Debbie) Benjamin and Paul (Kristie) Benjamin; grandchildren: Nicholas and Daniel; sister, Caron Dvorak of Grand Ledge, MI; and brother, Ben (Donna) Gillig of CA. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents; siblings: Emma Reisig, Maria Schmidt, Hilda Weber, and Kathryn Heidel. The family would like to thank her long time caregiver, Janet, the staff at Close to Home Assisted Living, and Dr. Farhan Khan for their love and care.
