Durrell "Durk" W. James

DURRELL "DURK" W. JAMES, age 86 of Flint, died Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Oaks at Woodfield in Grand Blanc. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place at 11AM on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Davison Assembly of God, 1234 S. Gale Rd., Davison, MI 48423, with Pastor Charles Peck officiating. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 6-8PM at Davison Assembly of God. Durk was born on March 24, 1929 to John and Thursia James. He worked for the City of Flint as a tax assessor. After retiring from the City of Flint, Durk lived his dream of opening a screen printing and sports clothing store, Durk James Sportswear. He was also a member of the Genesee County Referee Association and loved watching sports, especially high school sports, where he served as an official. In his spare time, he also enjoyed drawing. Durk will be missed for his sense of humor and assigning of nicknames. Durk is survived by his children: Linda Lesniak, Terri James, Maria (David) Mazza, John (Cheryl) James, and Paul (Laurel) James; grandchildren: Sarah, Anie (Willie), Paige, Eric, Mark (Desiree), Luke, Zach, Deven, and Taylor; 9 great-grandchildren; and brother, Darrell (Peggy) James. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Genevieve.
