Dorothy Mae Smith

DOROTHY MAE SMITH, age 89 of Otisville, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be 1PM Friday, June 29, 2012, at Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Malicoat officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 11AM-8PM at Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to West Forest United Methodist Church. Dorothy was born on January 2, 1923 to Hersey and Mable Smith. She married Gerald "Bud" Smith on February 12, 1943. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed her flowers and yard, fishing, baking, puzzle books, and short drives around the neighborhood with her dog, Sheba. She was a faithful servant to the West Forest United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was always willing to prepare a dish for church dinners and each spring she willingly opened her barn and yard to the annual church rummage sale. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Surviving are her children: Judith (Bob) Wates and Gary (Sandra) Smith; grandchildren: Woodrow Wates, Jr., Rodney (Kelly) Wates, Shirley Skaggs, and Renee (Todd) Willson; great- grandchildren: Crystal, Addison, and Tyler; brother Claiborn Smith.
