Dorothy L. Mumford

Dorothy L. Mumford, age 94 of Venice, Florida, died Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Her funeral service will be held at 2PM on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Trinity Methodist Church, 1310 Main St., Lapeer, MI 48446, with Rev. Grant Lobb officiating. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 3-7PM at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on October 28, 1931 to Roy and Bertha Davis. After high school, she attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie, where she met Gerald Mumford. They married soon after and celebrated 71 years of marriage before his passing in September 2021. They moved to Kansas City, MO, Flint, MI, and Otisville, MI, before finally settling down in Venice, Fl. Dorothy worked as a secretary for several places, including a law office, insurance office, and LakeVille Schools. Her biggest job was keeping track of Rev. Mumford’s things. She was always active in church and played the piano. If there was a church activity, she was always involved. In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting angels, playing the piano, reading, playing cribbage, and traveling all over the world. Most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Gerald (Rita) Mumford, Jr., Roy Mumford, Cindy (David) Olson and Roger (Yuko) Mumford; grandchildren: Derica (Shawn) Scribner, Dustin (Cassie) Mumford, Natalie (Derek) Morey, Monica Conrad, Ryan (Brooke Bengert) Mumford, Christopher (Janessa) Olson, and Jake (Maddie) Olson; great grandchildren: Kylee, Cole, Daniel, Isabel, Josiah, Sawyer, Mia, Grant, Isla, Luke, Maeve, and Kollyns; siblings: Shirley Larson and Wayne (Laurena) Davis; sister-in-law, Carole Davis; and foreign exchange student, Toshihiko Tajima.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Gerald Mumford, Sr.; brother, Leonard; and daughter-in-law, Dian.
