DONALD J. SMELTZER, age 86 of Columbiaville, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Brian's House. Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, July 27, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Otisville, with Rev. Fr. Francis Faraci officiating. Visitation will be 3-8PM Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Training of Religious Education Catechists at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Donald was born on July 13, 1926 to Harry and Mildred Smeltzer. He was a WWII and Korean Veteran and worked for the City of Detroit Public Works. Don was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Otter Lake VFW. He also enjoyed wood working, gardening and bird watching. Surviving is his wife, Marion; children: Donna (Tim) Smith, Lawrence (Irene) Smeltzer, James Smeltzer, and Elaine (Kendrick) Cox; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Dunn. He was preceded in death by his parents.
