Dean L. Swartwood

DEAN L. SWARTWOOD, "SHORTY", age 74 of Otter Lake, died Saturday, October 30, 2021 at his residence. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 2PM, with Rev. Fr. Johnathon Perrotta officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Old Newsboys, 6255 Taylor Dr., Flint, MI 48507 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.  Dean was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He enjoyed knitting, sewing, camping, fishing, and gardening. Most of all, Dean loved talking to people and spending time with his family and friends. He retired from General Motors after working for 35 years. His shop friends knew him as "Shorty." He is survived by his wife, Linda; children: Maria (Tim) O'Connor and Nathan (Kim) Swartwood; grandchildren: Devin (Shelby) and Olivia; great grandchildren: Alex, Aleah, and bonus Wade(Emily); and sister, Lila (Percy) Mash. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mark (Sue) Swartwood.
