In loving memory of Darrel Wayne Lawe of Otter Lake, MI passed away on October 3, 2020 at Maple Woods Manor in Clio.
Darrel "Wayne" Lawe was born September 16, 1941 to the late Wesley and Helena (Smith) Lawe. Darrel was one of 4 children and was known to many by his middle name Wayne. Wayne married Annalee "Lee" (Smith) on November 19, 1960 and together they have 3 sons: Kevin (Lisa) Lawe of Millington, Kenneth Lawe of Birch Run, and Joseph (Pamela) Lawe of Millington. Wayne worked for many years at GM before retiring in 1993. After retiring, he continued to work part-time jobs and was a driver for Motion Machine and MD Machine.
Wayne had a love for NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt and his large collection of Earnhardt memorabilia was proof. Wayne also loved playing cards, especially Pinochle and always looked forward to cards and dominos on Sundays with his brother and sister-in-law. He enjoyed bowling and spent many years on the local bowling league. Wayne enjoyed driving his old Chevy truck around until he passed it on to his grandson. He liked stopping at rummage sales and picking up odd things and toys for his great grandchildren. When at home, he could be found in his recliner watching TV or birds out the window, and he always kept a stack of cashword lottery tickets and a glass of Country Time Lemonade nearby.
Wayne leaves behind his wife of 59 years Lee, and 3 sons, Five grandchildren; Casey (Ethan) Babcock, Rachel (Will) Millington, Donnia (Zak) Graney, Nicholas Lawe, and Matthew Lawe. Three great grandchildren; Olivia and William Millington and Remington Babcock. He leaves behind 2 brothers Fred (June) Lawe, Larry Lawe, and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carol, also one daughter-in-law Susan (Kenneth) Lawe and one unborn granddaughter. The family would like to thank the staff at Maple Woods Manor and McLaren Hospice for their exceptional care during the end of Wayne's life.
At this time the family has honored Wayne's wishes and cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life in the spring/summer 2021.
