Curtis Scott Moorman, “Pops,” age 70 of Otter Lake, died Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Strength in Numbers, 705 E. Flint St., Davison, MI 48463.
Curtis was born in Salem, OR on November 11, 1955. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam era, where he became a sharpshooter, earning a National Defense Service Medal. After the military, he could be found at the range, shooting his guns and keeping up on his skills. Curtis enjoyed history and loved learning new things and traveling. He was known to find the untraveled trails and discover new places. He loved hiking through the mountains and finding places that most people do not know exist. He also loved spending time at the ocean. Curtis was known for rescuing dogs and could not turn away a stray. He was a piolet car operator for several years and started Allied Piolet Car with his son, Jason in 2014. He was known all around the country by fellow drivers.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Moorman; children: Donald “Jason” (Kim) Moorman, Bonnie Moorman, Leslie Daniels, Nona (Jon) Alike, Sara (Josh) Baker, Matt (Cat) Nelson, and Heather Stika; grandchildren: Jacob, Kaylee, Alyssa, Shelbi, Baylin, Haiden, Cheryl, Wendy, Lexianna, Melany, Loralye, Paisley, Emerlynn, Melody, Eathen, Emma, Charlie, Riley, and Cody; great grandchildren: Kayden, Dessa and Bently; siblings: Tod, Becky (Bob), Debi, Shawnee, Tammy, Keith, Ben (Dorinda) and, Jennifer; and brother-in-law, Steve. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Moorman; mother, Toni Harper; mother, Jean Mooreman; and sister, Leslie.
