Chester I. Diehl

CHESTER DIEHL, age 95 of Mt. Morris, passed away at home on November 8, 2016, with his family at his side. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11AM at the Richfield Church of the Nazarene, with pastors Stephen Anthony, Alan Duce, and Clarence Moorhouse officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Smith Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 3-8PM at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home, Otisville, MI. Contributions may be made in Chester's honor to Richfield Church of the Nazarene or the Flint East Side Mission. Chester served his country as a Seabee in the US Navy. He worked for General Motors Fisher Body, number 1, retiring after 30 years. He also worked for Mrs. Barrett's Doughnut Mix and was at one time a custodian of Genesee United Methodist Church. He served in several other churches as a Sunday school bus driver, usher, and sat on several church boards. Chester was a member of the Richfield Church of the Nazarene, Farm Bureau, and the American Legion. He was also an avid collector of many things. Chester is survived by his wife of 73 years, Gladys; children: Marilyn White of Mt. Morris and Duane (Carla) Diehl of Mt. Morris; brother, Robert Diehl, of Davison; sister, Alice (Darrell) Edgely of Davison; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Jenny Diehl; sister, Evelyn Cargill; and son-in-law, Gary White. The family would like to thank the Medical Team Hospice: Ami, Jennifer, and Melissa; and special caregivers, Mary and Crystal.
