BETTY JANE BRECKENRIDGE, age 97, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2021. Her funeral service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 16, 2021 from 1-7PM at the funeral home. Betty was born in Crystal, Michigan on July 24, 1923 to Frank and Berniece (Foster) Lutz. She married Clare Breckenridge on November 20, 1942. He preceded her in death in 2016. Betty worked at AC in Flint until she married Clare. She then became a stay-at-home mother to 7 children before going back to work at Vesely's in Lapeer. After retiring, she loved spending time on Neebish Island in the UP. She loved her grandkids and spending time with them. Betty also loved German Shepard dogs but downsized to RJ, her rat terrier. He misses her so much. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and attended Emanuel Baptist Church in Otisville, where she had a very special church family. Surviving are her sons: Clare (Linda) Breckenridge, Jr. and James Breckenridge; daughters: Donna Smith, JoAnn Breckenridge, Anna (Jim Keidel) Breckenridge, and Ruth (Darwin) Groff; grandchildren: Dawn, Dan (Dee), Chad (Ellen), James Jr. (Carolyn), Angi (Mark), James II, Joe Reno, Juli (Larry), Nic, Cheree, Bill (Christine) Ellen, Jessie (Juston) and Corky (Chelsea); numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, David (Toni) Lutz; sister-in-law, Erba Hynes; several nieces and nephews that loved her like a mother; and special caregivers: Autumn Osentoski, Jackie Whitfield, Carrie Hopkins, Rose Rybo, and Sheryl Trevarrow. The family would also like to send a special thanks to Absolute Hospice. Betty was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Cathy;daughter in-law Laurel, Son in-law James Smith, granddaughters: Kimberly, Jennifer;  great grandsons twin boys; brothers: Merland, Joy and Jack; and sister, Lavonia.
