Ann Elizabeth Norton (74) of Otter Lake passed away at home on Sunday, April 11, 2021. She was born on April 13, 1946, in Detroit to David and Mae Garbutt. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph, her daughters, Melinda & Elizabeth, her siblings, Barbara Garbutt and Ted Garbutt (Donna) and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

Ann lived her life teaching and serving others. She taught English and Journalism at LakeVille Memorial High School for 35 years and influenced the lives of countless students through her ability to not only be a great educator but also a compassionate and caring mentor to all who crossed her classroom threshold. She took pride in overseeing the publication of the school newspaper and yearbook. After retiring, she became an ordained priest in the Eastern Diocese of Michigan serving at St. John's Episcopal Church in Otter Lake where she was a beloved leader, adviser and friend. At St. John's, her many ministries included monthly home-cooked dinners to raise money for the Otter Lake Coalition of Churches' Food Pantry and outreach to those most in need in her community.

She was an active member in the Masonic Family of Otisville including OES Nourmahal Chapter #282 and Job's Daughters Bethel #63 and spent countless hours making pasties, coordinating dinners and serving on committees at the state level.

Ann was a pillar of community and was beloved by everyone who knew her. She was kind and patient, showing compassion and empathy to friends and strangers alike. She will be greatly missed.
