Alden "Skip" Root

ALDEN "SKIP" ROOT, age 84 of Davison, died, Saturday, October 8, 2016. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 12:30PM at the Mumford- Hudson Funeral Home. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 1-8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries or the Salvation Army. Skip was born on September 5, 1932 to Elmer and Freda Root. He worked as a milk distributor for 57 years. He loved spending time with his daughter and grandchildren and enjoyed reading, traveling, and water sports. He also enjoyed watching U of M football and Detroit Tigers baseball and going to Arlene's Coffee Clutch in the mornings. Surviving is his daughter, Kathy (Gary) Hogard; daughter-in-law, Denise Root; grandchildren: Chad, Colt, and Cody Hogard and Kelsey (James) Hunter; and great-grandsons: Harrison and Hudson. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, John (Ann) Spohn; sisters-in-law: Connie Butz and Phyllis Wood June; many nieces and nephews; and special friends: Bill and Pat Priest. Skip was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; son, Chris; and granddaughter, Christen Root.
